Conclusion of Room A Week, Bag A Day Challenge

Thought I'd give one final post to wrap up the Room A Week, Bag A Day Challenge.  After purging a whooping 773 pounds of stuff from our house, we had one massive sale.  Here's a few pics...

We had a fantastic turnout and sold over $3,000!  Our T.V. room, which was housing the 773 pounds of stuff went from looking like this...

To This...

Still some work to do as there's ebay stuff hiding behind the couches, but a definite improvement.  I appreciate all the encouragement I received during the challenge.  There were times when I definitely didn't think I could finish a room before the weeks end, but all the comments and inspiration photos from others really helped keep me motivated!  Sometime this next year I hope to do another challenge to help me really refine my home and tackle those few rooms I didn't get to this time around (garage, my outdoor workspace, bathrooms, etc., etc.)  But for now, I'll enjoy my much cleaner, much lighter home.

Here's a few other holiday updates.  Once the sale was all cleaned up we didn't waste anytime celebrating!  That night me and a few of the little Biggs, headed to California for some fun!

I love spending time at the ocean...even in the Winter!  We were able to do a photo shoot for Little Biggs 4 senior pictures.  Here's some of my favorites...

We arrived home just in time to host our family Christmas party- (didn't take a single photo!) and then our Christmas Eve dinner the next night.

With all the cash we earned from the sale it was a very Merry Christmas!  Here's a few pics...

Little Biggs 4 loved her one piece pajamas and of course her two person kayak!

Mr. Right's favorite gift?  A muzzleloader!

A beautiful King Size headboard was made (by Mr. Right) for Little Biggs 1.  I'll have to post when we get it painted up and installed.

Little Biggs 2 got an iphone!

And so did Little Biggs 5.

And Little Biggs 6 went,  "we, we, we" when she received her Zummer Kitty
I'm not sure what happened to Little Biggs 5 pictures, but she and her new husband were given Fit Bits!

And for me?  I received so many incredible gifts this year.  A fold up wagon for our trips to the zoo, a new Bosch, outdoor slippers (or shoes, as I like to call them), a roku system, a hand drawn picture of a french bulldog from Little Biggs 5 (I hope to have a real one someday), a card organizer (I so needed this as my wallet bulges from store cards, business cards, frequent buyer cards, etc. etc.)  and this handmade sign from Little Biggs 1 and her family

My favorite gift, however, has to be this amazing family I get to be a part of!  I feel very blessed and so grateful!

I hope all of you enjoyed your holiday and wish everyone a Happy New Year!  I have a BIGG announcement to make next Monday, January 4th- so be sure and stop back by!

Love, Kelly.

Resting From The Chaos

With all the work we've been doing, we had to take a little break for some holiday fun!  Ice skating at a local outdoor rink was the perfect family night activity.

There were our "auditions" for Disney on Ice...

Some did better than others...

But a good time was had by all!

The next morning we hit the road bright and early for a road trip to Flagstaff to pick up Little Biggs
2 from college. We loaded the truck in record time...

Because we had to get back for Little Biggs 6 Christmas program

We then hurried home to finish preparing a Costa Vida style dinner for 60 amazing women...

Who donated toiletries for a local women's shelter

We had hoped to put together a couple dozen bags...

What a blessing that we have enough supplies to put together 100 bags!  How come even when were resting it seems like chaos?  Wonderful chaos, but chaos nonetheless!

Week 6 Excuses: Room A Week, Bag A Day Challenge

Did you notice the word "excuses" in my title?  Here they are;
1.  I had a vintage market this weekend
2.  A microburst (small tornado type thing) hit my space in the middle of the night at said vintage market
3.  My tents were lifted and thrown into a fence

3.  After 2 hours of cleaning up broken glass, drying out furniture and re-staging my space, it began to rain.
4.  With no tents, there was no protection from the rain
5.   I was exhausted and vowed to finish my last "room" today
6.  Today it rained
7.  My room is not done
8.  I have a massive sale to get ready for this week

9.  I have a hoarder room in my house filled to the brim with items for my massive sale

(I can't believe I'm showing you pictures of my hoarder room!  I have reached a new low.  Maybe it's because I feel guilty about not finishing my week 6 room, maybe it's because I'm water logged from all this rain, maybe I'm hoping you'll feel sorry for me or maybe, just maybe, I'm just a little crazy!I'll let you be the judge)

And the final excuse for not getting my room done...

10. We're adding another estate to our massive sale- this makes a total of 4 estates people!  You don't want to miss it!

Please, please, please come buy all my stuff so I won't have or hoarder room anymore!

Total Loss:  Still 773 lbs

Week 6 Almost Done: Room A Week, Bag A Day Challenge

The Room:
I was able to get everything on the table cleaned up and ready to be sold.  Here's how the space looks now...

Still super sawdusty, but progress is progress.  Here's a pic of a few of the treasures I cleaned up and priced...

The Bag:
Still cleaning out furniture from our old guest bedroom...

This little pile weighed in at 23 pounds!  Don't forget to check back monday for the week 6 reveal!  I can't believe the challenge is coming to an end.  However, the biggest part of the challenge will be getting everything ready for our big sale next Friday and Saturday.  Here's the information...

This sale will be massive!  We will have everything from my challenge, everything from the estate clearing I did last week as well as part of my good friends 40 years of collecting! I'll be posting pictures as we get items organized and ready to sell!  Hope you all can make it.

Total Loss:  773 lbs

Also, I'll be participating in a Christmas Market tomorrow in Peoria.  I'd love it if you could stop by. Here's the info...

Week 6 Continues: Room A Week, Bag A Day Challenge

The Room:
Progress is slow and steady with my driveway project.  The table is almost cleared off...

Here's a pile of items from the table I was able to clean-up and price for my upcoming vintage market.

Even though progress is slow at home, I made huge progress on the estate I was hired to clear out.  Here's the befores...

And here's the after:

I met with the client to give the keys back today and she was so happy.  Don't forget to join us for our massive garage sale December 18 & 19th in Mesa.  Address and details coming soon!

The Bag:

Here's a table and lamp from our guest area, which is now my newly married daughters apartment- so it's time to let it go!  The two items weighed in at 29 1/2 pounds!  We're almost done with the challenge, be sure and send me before and afters of your successes.

Total Loss:  750 lbs.

Week 6: A Room A Week, A Bag A Day Challenge

The Room:

Today I wanted to work on some of the big items cluttering up my driveway.  I decided to list some of the items for sale on facebook.  Here's a vintage farmhouse table for $150...

A light-up snowman and Santa for $10 each

A wicker bakers rack for $40...

And a rusty trunk for $40

I have several people in line for the Santa and snowman and the rusty
trunk, but selling online generally takes a few days for pick-ups to happen.  Wish me luck!

Here's a pile of stuff I was able to clean up and price for my vintage market this weekend...
Let's just say even though I had a super busy day, I was still able to make a slight dent in the stuff on the table...

Do you see the small empty spot there on the left... look closer... Ok, I'll try to work a little harder tomorrow.

The Bag:
Todays bag came from the dreaded TV room (where all the garage sale stuff is being stored) This is the bedding from our guest bedroom.  The guest bedroom we've now turned into a Mother In Law suite for my newly married daughter and her husband.  Since they have they're own bedding I was going to hang on to this "just in case" I ever need it.  Well, today I decided, If I ever need it, I'll go buy another one.
At 7 pounds it doesn't weigh much but its big and bulky and 7 lbs of stuff I no longer need.  How's your progress coming?

Total Loss:  720.5 lbs.
