The Wind Caves

If I haven't mentioned it before, I love living in Arizona.  Mr. Right, Little Biggs 5 & 6 and I  joined our friends for a wind caves hike just before sunrise.

It's a nice trail that's not too difficult,

 but the scenery is amazing!
Here's Little Biggs 6 at the top!
And Little Biggs 5 at the top!

We all made it!

Another treat at the top was this huge beehive!  It almost looks like a piece of artwork!

Can't think of a better way to spend the morning!  See you next time.

A Kindergarten Valentine's Day

Seeing that I'm a Nana to 2 boys, it's sometimes hard to believe I still have a kindergartener.  However, it keeps me young.  This year for Valentines Little Biggs 5 & 6 wanted to do dum dum flowers.  By the time we were finished (Mr. Right, Little Biggs 3 and I) it was 11:30 at night and this is the only picture I took...
The next day Mr. Right and I were in charge of the kindergarten valentine party.  We planned a fun craft where you dab paint around a heart shape on a bag, then remove the heart and it leaves behind the shape.  I was a little nervous about red paint and kindergarteners, but they did a fantastic job
Here, Little Biggs 6 is playing the stack the conversation hearts game.  Several of these little ones were able to make a 10 heart tower!
Candy necklaces were a big hit.  We cut colored twizzlers into small pieces and added fruit loops cereal and a pink marshmallow heart.
As the finale, the teacher had a special musical guest come and play the sitar.  Little Biggs 6 was chosen to play the singing bowl.  What a cool experience for the class!
I'm grateful for the opportunity I have for do-overs.  This is my 6th Kindergartener and I'm doing things a little differently this time- It's more about the journey.  Little Biggs 6 is thankfully not too embarrassed (not yet anyway) that were the "older" parents of the class.  We seem to have a little more time to participate in her class activities and I even had one of the kids in the class say I was "cool"!  What better Valentine gift is there than that!  See you next time.

This Weekend's Finds and Schnepf Farms

It was a crazy weekend trying to find some new treasures to take to our Schnepf Farms show.  Here's a few of our Friday finds...
The canisters, bird cage and typewriter sold early on at the market!
Love this retro molded plastic chair!
I'm a huge sucker for ironstone and plan on keeping the pitcher for my collection.

It was the perfect morning at the farm.  After unloading and getting set up we watched a hot air balloon be filled and then take flight.
We brought most of the Little Biggs Clan to the farm since we were launching our new name, "A Little Biggs of Everything."

Little Biggs 5 & 6 took advantage of the free face painting!

We also brought our smallest Little Biggs... Halo.  She was a hit with the kids.

The petting zoo was a Biggs' favorite

 And the rides...

Schnepf farms proved to be a great place to keep the kids busy for the day
Little Biggs 4 was exhausted after getting up at 3am and keeping 5 & 6 entertained all day!

Little Biggs 3 was in charge of the drawing for the reclaimed wood love sign...

Laura Reed was the winner!  Congratulations.  It was a fabulous day on the farm.  Hope you can join us next month on March 14.  See you next time.

A Whale Of A Good Time

After 11 years of trying to have a baby,  my cousin Stacey is expecting her first child!  Little baby Liam is one lucky boy.  Stacey's Mom (isn't that a song?), Sister and Aunt hosted a beautiful Whale themed shower this weekend and we had the privilege of attending.  I just had to share pictures of all the cute decor.

We were greeted at the door with lots of sweets!
Here's a closer look at the adorable cake Stacey's mom and sister made.  Do you see the cute little paper whale boxes?  They have a chocolate inside!
Diaper wreath centerpieces...

and these cute little pin boards for guests to write "whale" wishes for Liam.
Even the silverware was tied into a bow tie!  And the food was amazing!
Couldn't help but sneek in a picture of Little Biggs 1 with grand boy #2!

Gifts were placed in a blow up whale pool!

Did I mention this is one lucky baby!
For our gift we created these large signs for Liam's whale themed nursery.  His mom picked out the sayings and colors and we got to work.
What an exciting time for this sweet family.  See you next time.

This Weekends Finds

Even though Mr. Right and I were only able to shop on Friday, we still found some great treasures...
Love the patina on this pizza board
This metal table is such a cute size
Rusty metal is always a favorite of mine

The pink bowl is a Lu-Ray pastel.  I read about their pottery in a Mary Engelbreit magazine years ago and have never come across a piece until this week. I love the soft pink color of this bowl- and it's perfect timing for Valentine's Day.  These and many more treasures will be available at our next market this Saturday at Schnepf Farms 24810 S. Rittenhouse, Queen Creek.  7:30-2:00.  Free Admission.  There will also be a u-pick organic garden, train rides, Bakery, food, Peach blossom hayrides tour, Farmhouse museum, Gift shops, petting zoo and more.  Can't think of a better way to celebrate Valentine's Day.  Hope to see you there.

Time For A Little Demolition!

We discovered our laundry room sink had been leaking, which caused all kinds of destruction to the inside of the cabinet.   The only way to fix it... Demolition!

We were already planning on replacing the tile floor, so my original plan was to remove the tile countertop, take out the cabinet so Mr. Right could rebuild the parts with water damage and then put it all back in.  Here I'm chiseling away at the tile countertop.

Only to discover there's a 2" thick concrete foundation under the tile... UGH!

With lots more chiseling, and Mr. Rights strength, the counter and cabinet were removed.

Here's the after.  Because of the water damage, the drywall behind the sink also had to be removed.

Little Biggs 6 loved hammering  away and taking out the drywall.  Now, this is where things get a little fuzzy.  I believe I was laying on the couch, listening as Little Biggs 6 hammered at the drywall and  Mr. Right sweep it up, when a vision came to me.  (I use the term vision loosely)  I envisioned the door way being removed between the laundry room and my craft room.  Our laundry room is very narrow and now that the cabinet was out I could see the potential in removing the door way.  The main complication is that just the night before Mr. Right had finished the new flooring and baseboards in the craft room.  By taking out the door way we would loose 2 of our new walls of baseboards as well as a full row of new flooring that was custom cut around the door... Hmmmm, what to do.  After a short discussion with Mr. Right, Little Biggs 5 got to be the first to take a whack at the wall.

Little Biggs 6 was next...
Do you love that they're barefoot?  Safety first at the Biggs'.
Then they really got in the spirit, one on each side of the wall.  See my pretty new flooring and baseboards?
Soon Little Biggs 3 & 4 jumped in (more bare feet)  And before we knew it...
We could see through!  Mr. Right took over and did all the tricky stuff and now we have a more open looking laundry and craft room.

So of course I can't move that yucky old cabinet back in!  I'm thinking an old chipping hutch centered on the wall.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.  Hopefully we can get this place cleaned up in the next few weeks!  See you next time.
